There have been car insurance laws in the state of Arkansas for a long time, but it wasn’t until the late nineties that the state really started to crack down on people driving without insurance. They did this by creating a verification program using a system that catalogs people’s vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and their status of insured or uninsured. It is a computerized system that flags a vehicle identification number if the policy to which it is matched has been reported as no longer valid by the car insurance company it was with.

There are certain requirements for a basic car insurance policy in Arkansas which all drivers are required to have. If you want to transfer the title of your car to someone, or register your vehicle, Arkansas car insurance coverage is something that you have to have. Here are the types of coverage that are required by Arkansas car insurance law:

Injury/death for a single person–$25,000

Injury/death for multiple people-$50,000

Property damage–$25,000

Although this amount of coverage is what is required, it is often much less than what is actually necessary for a driver in this state. To find out the level of car insurance coverage that you truly need, speak with your insurance agent and discuss the details of your policy.

If your vehicle identification number is flagged among the office of motor vehicles records as being without a valid insurance policy, a thirty day period is given during which no action is taken. However, if after that month your policy is still canceled and you have not gotten one with another company, then your registration will be canceled, and if you want to get it back then you have to show proof of car insurance.

Cheers,

The state of Arizona’s motor vehicle division is interested in safe roads and safe citizens, and so keeps the traffic laws strict and the car insurance laws just so. Cheap Arizona motor car insurance is widely available across the state, and considering this availability and all of the options to the insured, there is really no excuse to go without. No vehicle is exempt from the Arizona car insurance law requirements. Even mopeds and golf carts need to have a valid liability policy, not to mention other recreational vehicles like four wheelers and motorcycles.

Here is the Arizona car insurance requirement liability limit:

Injury/death of a single person–$15,000

Injury/death of more than one person–$30,000

Property damage–$10,000

It’s difficult to drive uninsured in Arizona without getting caught. The reason for this is because not only do you have to show your insurance card when stopped by a police officer or getting your registration renewed, but any time that you cancel, fail to renew, or drop your car insurance policy, the company has to tell the DMV. Once the DMV finds out, you will be notified of this discrepancy and asked to clear it up. If you can’t because you actually are uninsured, then you will be required to file SR 22 car insurance for the next three to five years, depending on the number of your offense.

Now, there is a way to have a vehicle in Arizona and not have to insure it. This is called a deinsured vehicle, and you have to apply to get this status for your car. Mostly, it applies to vehicles which are out of the use for all or part of the year and is a temporary status.

Florida has had a history of murky car insurance provisions for a while. In the eighties, lack of oversight and enforcement lead to about one out of every tree cars driving in Florida being without car insurance, and in some highly populated areas, such as Miami, the numbers were as great as two out of three. This all changed when the no fault Florida car insurance laws were introduced, required every Florida resident with a vehicle registered in the state to carry personal injury protection coverage, as well as allowing cops to ask for insurance when drivers were stopped and required that car insurance companies tell the DMV when a car insurance policy is dropped, cancelled, or not renewed.

But on the first of October this year, that all might change. The no fault insurance law is sun-setting this year, and the legislature is showing no signs in being interested in renewing it. This is despite the fact that the sunset of this law will mean that checking car insurance for traffic stops and notification for dropped policies will no longer be required, making it particularly difficult for the DMV to locate people who do not have insurance and punish them.

The punishment component will still exist, with a possible $600 fine and two months in jail for anybody caught without insurance. However, the only ways to be caught without insurance are to either get into a car accident or get our car registered.

Many people think that this will lead to another rise in uninsured drivers. People, they say, can just get insured one day, go get registered, and then cancel their car insurance policy to get a refund the next. As for car accidents, the heavy penalties for lack of insurance are likely to create a higher incidence of hit and runs from uninsured motorist scared of the consequences.

Cheers,

Ohio car insurance laws have a different standard than those of most other states. Like all other states, you have to have car insurance or some other kind of proof of financial responsibility if you want to drive your vehicle legally on Ohio roads. However, in Ohio you also have to make sure that if you are going to let someone take your car for a spin, that they are properly insured as well. Normally, the insurance is entirely connected to the car, so if someone is not personally insured, so long as the car they are driving is and they are driving that car with permission, they are okay. In Ohio, not so much.

Anytime that you go to get your registration, license, or learner’s permit, you have to sign off that you are in possession of a valid car insurance policy. The minimum required coverage is:

Injury/death for one person–$12,500

Injury/death for multiple people–$25,000

Property damage–$7,500

If you want to prove your financial responsibility, then the best way to go about it is by taking out a car insurance policy. This can easily be done by getting a cheap Ohio auto insurance quote online and then choosing the company that suits you best. Proof of financial responsibility must be had at all times, because there are several instances when you might find that you need to provide the proof. On example is if you get pulled over by a cop to be ticketed, and you will be asked for proof of insurance. Some more times will be if you have to go to court for a traffic violation, when you go to get your car inspected, or by the random surveys that the DMV does every year. They only request proof of insurance from about five percent of vehicle owners every year, so you will get one of these at least once every twenty years. That may sound like a good chance, but you should never risk it when it comes to car insurance.

There are several ways that you can prove your financial responsibility. One of the easiest ways to do this is to have your insurance card, which is what your car insurance company gives you when you take out a policy. You can also carry around your policy. If you don’t want typical insurance and have plenty of money to throw around, you can take several other routes. You can get a surety bond for thirty thousand dollars; you can get a BMV bond from a real estate company in the amount of sixty thousand dollars; or you can get a government bond from the state treasury, in the amount of thirty thousand dollars.

There are very serious consequences for driving without financial responsibility, and they get worse the more convictions of this violation that you rack up. First you lose your license for three months, and then it costs one to five hundred dollars to get it back. Then you lose your plates and registration, and once you get everything back you have to get more expensive high risk car insurance called SR 22. In some cases where it’s very serious, you might even have your car impounded.

Cheers,

The state of Illinois carries a particularly had line when it comes to mandatory car insurance laws. Although this may seem bad for the person caught without insurance, it helps bring Illinois car insurance rates down. What some people don’t realize is that an accident in and of itself isn’t a huge cause in the rise of car insurance rates. As a matter of fact, the number of fraudulent claims and accidents involving uninsured motorists are big causes of the driving up of rates in states like Illinois every year.

Whenever you go to get your registration in Illinois, they check to make sure you have car insurance, and you can not renew it without proof. The proof of car insurance is a card with all of your insurance information that your car insurance company sends you whenever you first get a policy or when you renew it. You are required by the state of Illinois to have the following car insurance coverage:

Injury/death liability for a single person is $20,000

Injury/death liability for multiple people is $40,000

Property damage liability is $15,000

If you are out driving without car insurance, the expenses are huge. If you get pulled over by a cop for committing a traffic violation, or even for something small like having a light out, your insurance will be checked. If you don’t have it, you get hit with a five hundred dollar fine. It’s even worse for people whose plates are already suspended because they’ve driven without insurance before. For them, the amount is a thousand dollars.

Even if you aren’t caught while driving, you can still be found out for not having car insurance coverage. The reason for this is that the Illinois DMV has a computer system that randomly mails questionnaires to people and you have to fill it out to provide your car insurance information. If you don’t fill it out with the information, you could be fined.

Cheers,
