Reader Question: What can I do to easily lower my car insurance rate. I am a good driver and drive very short distances. I hear this phrase “limited use vehicle” mentioned…..do I qualify for that?

So you are a good driver huh? One way to lower your car insurance rate would be to lower your annual mileage you put on your vehicle. This is commonly refered to as a “limited use vehicle” meaning you only drive this vehicle short distances on a limited time basis. Maybe you only go to and from your work…which happens to only be 5 miles away from your home.

Lowering your annual mileage will lower your premiums drastically. Often, auto insurance providers will base their rate quote on the driver driving 12,000 miles a year.

if you really are a safe driver like you say you are, I would work out how many mile’s you will actually drive each month contact your insurance company about a “good driver” insurance discount and the fact that you fit into the limited use vehicle category. If they really want your business they will fight for it.
