Commercial car insurance

Filed under: Good Driver Auto Insurance — fashun @ 11:36 pm

Do you own a business, or does your job require you to do a lot of driving? If you can answer in the affirmative to either of those statements, then you can probably look into getting a commercial car insurance policy. Depending on where you stand, there are different ways to go about this.

  • Business owner.

If you own a business that requires your employees to do a lot of driving in company cars, then you should probably get a commercial car insurance policy. Policies for multiple vehicles as in this situation are different than individual policies, and the deal is basically that you will probably do better if you are self insured. People who own a fleet of cars, which consists of more than ten cars, are good candidates for being self insured. However, if you want to provide your own car insurance for your employees, then you have to be able to back that up with money by getting a bond or handing over tens of thousands of dollars in some other way to your state department of motor vehicles.

  • Self employed.

You might not need commercial car insurance if you are among the self employed work force. For example, if you work from your computer like I do, then you probably don’t use your car for business reason. However, if you make a lot of deliveries or drive people around for your business, then you need commercial car insurance.

  • Employee.

You might own your own car but use it to travel for business or to make runs for the company you work for. Most larger companies provide commercial insurance policies, and you should see if you are covered for any collisions or damages that happen while you are on the job.
